The visual Multiavatar characters design is protected by copyrights and is available for use under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license.

Multiavatar designs can be used for free for non-commercial and for commercial purposes.

Individual and/or non-commercial use

For your individual needs, you can use any generated avatar for free as your profile picture, gaming logo, as a part of your design project, and similar.

For such individual usage, the attribution is appreciated but not strictly required.

Commercial use

When used for commercial purposes and/or in business, the following attribution is always required: Avatars by

On websites, insert the attribution on the page where the avatar is shown. This can be placed next to the image or on the footer of the website.

On physical items, add this attribution to the description of the final work or product so that the authorship of Multiavatar is known. For instance, add to the description on a web store's product page, or in the printed description of a physical item.

Place the attribution on the app's about or credits page and on the description page on the app store.

Insert the attribution line on the post or post comments on social networks.


Multiavatar grants you a nonexclusive, worldwide copyright license to download, copy, modify, distribute, and use the Multiavatar assets for free, including for commercial purposes. This license does not include the right to replicate a similar or competing service, using the assets provided by Multiavatar.

When used in other products, the Multiavatar should always be treated as an addition to your product, but not as the product on its own.

It is not allowed to re-package the existing avatars design, or re-brand it under another product name.

Because the Multiavatar JavaScript code is licensed under the MIT license, it means that permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this project, to use, copy, modify, merge, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of a derivative work, and to permit persons to whom the work is furnished to do so if the usage is not interfering with the Design's License and Restrictions.

Since the Multiavatar algorithm source-code is allowed to be used and reused freely, you can use the Multiavatar algorithm to create your own avatars library with your own designs.

You can also add the Multiavatar to your website, app or any other software project, and use it without any limitations under the MIT license, as long as the visual representation of the design is used according to the Design License and Restrictions mentioned above.
